Nicholas Hua received his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and his law degree with cum laude honors and Order of the Coif from Santa Clara University School of Law, where he was the Senior Articles Editor on the Law Review. While in law school, he published an article on sexual harassment in the Law Review and lectured on sexual harassment in an employment law seminar. He gained federal court experience as a judicial extern in the chambers of the Honorable Judge James Ware of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, where he worked on cases involving trademark infringement, unfair competition, employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, among other cases. He worked on the published case of Lin v. Universal Card Services Corp., 238 F.Supp.2d 1147 (2002), a case in the area of consumer credit reporting that has been cited with approval in the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and in several federal district courts.

Mr. Hua served as a research attorney in the Los Angeles Superior Court, in the Coverage Department and in the chambers of the Honorable Judge Gregory W. Alarcon and the Honorable Judge Alexander H. Williams III (Ret.), where he obtained substantial expertise in all aspects of law and motion and civil procedures of the court. Mr. Hua also taught Contracts and Torts II in the paralegal and law school at Irvine University. After serving the judiciary, Mr. Hua practiced insurance and employment law defense with the leading national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP. Thereafter, he continued to litigate, counsel, and draft contracts and other legal documents for employers while at Jackson Lewis LLP, the second largest law firm devoted exclusively to representing management in workplace law. At Jackson Lewis, he handled race, age, religion, and disability discrimination cases, as well as retaliation, sexual harassment, and Labor Code section 132a claims. Mr. Hua also practiced commercial litigation, anti-piracy/copyright/trademark, and employment law in Southern California with Perkins Coie LLP, a leading full service law firm with 15 offices spread throughout the United States and China.
